SDL2025VIEWC01S01I10 Solar Lion Coat of Arms

Against a deep sable field, the visage of a golden lion dominates the shield — its features bold and symmetrical, the eyes a vivid azure that pierce the darkness. From the leonine face radiate stylized golden sunbeams, their form echoing both the mane’s natural spread and the ordered geometry of a solar emblem.

This is a representation of Sam Diellor Luani’s coat of arms. The composition unites two potent symbols: the lion, emblem of courage, vigilance, and sovereign authority; and the sun, signifying illumination, life, and enduring power.

My Solar Lion is my first formal heraldic achievement. This image I am publishing here is one barely beveled representation of many I have drawn over the years, and most of them have been drawn to be carved or cut or sculptured. I intend to realize some of my many drawn versions in 3d, with more than bevel, with more “photo-realism”. The Solar Lion is in many respects a manifestation or incarnation of my Albanian Eagle, which has had a major impact on my design thinking in logo, icon, heraldry and visual identity design.

I have prepared several sets of additions to the shield, but I need some more time to decide which are most poetic as blazons.
