  • Stylized castle with three towers

  • White moon, gray sky, flying bats

  • Winding white path resembling a tongue

Stylized illustration featuring a dark, horror castle with three towers on the left. The building has irregular white shapes resembling windows. A winding white path extends from its base toward the foreground and reaches outside the image like an inviting tongue. A large white circle, possibly representing the moon, dominates the background. The sky is rendered in shades of gray, with several black bird-like silhouettes flying in the upper right. The image is framed with black corners, giving it a dramatic, poster-like appearance. Signed with SDL.

Castle Of Horror – Kitsch Reimagined

This 1994 vector drawing is a masterclass in kitsch management. Castle Of Horror begins with a cliché—gothic towers, bats, and a moonlit sky—but transforms it into a poetic pastiche. The castle itself resembles a face, and the bats form a second face in the sky, suggesting sentience and intention. The winding path, shaped like a tongue, invites viewers to cross into the image’s world and be consumed by its expressive power. Each tower hints at a dark archetype: vampire, cat, ghost. This piece doesn’t mock kitsch—it elevates it, turning familiar horror tropes into a tribute to the genre’s artistic depth.

This image has entirely been drawn in polygonal lines which have been smoothed node by node, as a faster workflow than drawing directly in curves.
