Clasped Hands – The Artist’s Touch
Originally drawn in 1988 on an overhead sheet, this image captures the very hands of the artist—Sam Diellor Luani—clasped in a symbolic gesture. It’s a visual illusion, a double image that can be seen as both a musician (the saxofone-like shape) and a profile. This duality is intentional, reflecting a philosophical essay it was intended to illustrate, where the clasping of hands was used as a metaphor for the procreation of ideas. It was vectorized in 1992, and now elevated into a pastiche of authenticity, a tribute to the intimacy of creation and the transformation of gesture into graphic language.
